Diego Cardoso presented his resignation as Minister of Health of Córdoba, before Governor Juan Schiaretti, after being questioned about the death of five babies born at the Ramón Carrillo Maternal Neonatal Hospital.
The mandataryapparently, did not make the judicial complaint about the deaths in a timely manner, which delayed the investigation process and the collection of evidence, which is why today Diego Cardoso left his position in the ministry.
Through his Twitter account, Diego Cardoso wrote: “I want to inform you that, on this date, I presented to the Governor my resignation as Minister of Health, a position that I have carried out with all my vocation”.
And he added: “I do it with the same humility and service that I performed the function and, also, with the deep desire that the facts that are public knowledge of the Neonatal be absolutely clarified.”
Regarding the death of the babies, initially, it was known that they had died in a suspicious manner, since they had all been born in good health. Later, after performing the autopsies, it was found that death had been caused.
According to the report of the authorities, the babies died due to a picture of “hyperkalaemia, due to excess potassium” that was “intentionally injected”.
Due to the facts, nurse Brenda Agüero, 27, is the only one arrested and charged, who was charged as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of “repeated qualified homicide by insidious procedure.”
The judicial investigation is in charge of the Prosecutor of Instruction Raúl Garzón, who indicated that the corresponding procedures are carried out to determine if there are more people involved in the case.
