For his “artistic career and contribution to cultural identity at a national and international level“, the Departmental Legislative Assembly awarded a recognition to the Vallegrandino singer and composer Luciano ‘Lucho’ Cardona Sandoval, 79 years old.
“Don Luchito is a recognized person, not only at the departmental, national, but also worldwide level; grateful, excited and very proud to be the daughter of that beautiful land that I represent, such as the Vallegrande province,” said the Assemblyman Mavy Darinka Pedraza at the time of delivering the distinction.
In his turn, Cardona Sandoval expressed his gratitude for recognizing the artists in life and for “rescuing our culture and valuing what we have.”
“I have no words, just say thank you, thank you God, to you for giving me your love, your presence, everything throughout my life. I am already in the final stretch and where I have gone, I have felt the warmth and affection of the people. I also had a recognition in Sucre on August 5 and what affection from the people, how beautiful, it is a gift from God through you,” said the musician who has been dedicated to music for almost 60 years.
‘Lucho’ Cardona started in music at the age of 15, but his first professional foray was with the The Carters setwhich was dedicated to dissemination of Bolivian oriental music for more than two decades.
During his long career as well wrote innumerable compositionssome of the most prominent kaluyo unjust fate and the vidita counterpoint.
