Free re-registration in Montevideo

Reempadronamiento

The 22nd Plenary Session of the Congress of Mayors was held in Florida, it was part of the celebrations for the 197th anniversary of the declaration of Independence of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. There they unanimously enabled a new term, which expires on December 30 of this year, to exonerate the costs associated with re-registration (registration and property booklet).

The objective is to encourage vehicles to be registered in the place of residence of their owners. The measure is part of the project “Empladronamiento en el pueblo”.

Therefore, in Montevideo, the re-registration process will be free for those who request it until December 30 of this year, regardless of whether they are scheduled for later dates.

As of January 1, 2023, those who request time for this procedure must pay the total cost, which is $4,050.

  • Compulsory Automobile Insurance (SOA).
  • Receipt or utility bill in the name of the person carrying out the procedure for the purpose of proving residency.

  • If the unit is a truck (fiscal category B), it must have a Comprehensive Cargo Transport Control System (SITRAC) up to date, issued with the endorsement of the MTOP.

The procedure for re-registration is carried out in person, presenting an identity card or passport. It is necessary to book on this website, by phone at 1950 4000 option 2 or via whatsapp at 099 019 500.
