The union of workers of Montecon It lifted the strike that had started at 7 am this Friday and which they planned to extend until next Monday the 27th. The operation will resume on Sunday the 26th at midnight.
As indicated by the port union and confirmed to El Observador, the President of the National Port Administration (ANP), Juan Curbelo, the workers held a new assembly this Friday at 8 am and the new proposal presented by the company was accepted, so the stoppage of activities was lifted.
The measure had been taken because Montecon had not assured the workers of any of the proposals they had submitted to maintain their working conditions.
The strike would have affected direct to exports, since approximately 600 containers could not have been loaded on a ship that is moored at the maritime terminal.
