"It's time for peace": Petro after attack on security delegation in Catatumbo

Great commotion in the country caused by the attack suffered by the president’s security advance Gustavo Petroin the middle of a route that overtook the Catatumboon the afternoon of this Wednesday, August 24.

The situation was recorded when three official vehicles were traveling along the road that Bucaramanga leads to The tarraNorth of Santander.

The vans ran into an illegal checkpoint, apparently from the FARC dissidents. The six armed men made the stop. One of the vehicles failed to pass the checkpoint and another was punctured. Two vehicles and a driver of the National Protection Unit (UNP), who was later released.

The situation caused alarm in the Narino Palace, in the middle of some statements that Petro gave.

After confirming that none of the occupants of the vehicles were injured by the shots from long-range firearms, President Petro spoke on the matter.

Through his Twitter account, he said that it should be end the violence in the country and announced that he will continue to strive for peace.

“This is what must end in the country. No more violence. Although only things were affected and human beings were saved, the work of the government will continue to be committed to the fact that it is time for Peace”, tweeted the president.

The attack was recorded when the advance guard was carrying out a reconnaissance in the area, ahead of Petro’s advance visit to the region, where a Security Council.
