The teacher’s leader and who was part of the single dialogue table on educational matters, Diógenes Sánchez, commented that they are checking that the Budget Commission of the National Assembly approves the amount that was agreed at said table for the education sector for the validity fiscal 2023.
He added that in addition to the budget issue, there are a number of issues that are pending with the Ministry of Education (Meduca), especially the eradication of ranch schools. “We have around 1,200 ranch classrooms nationwide and they are a shame, we are talking about one of the countries that has had the greatest economic growth in the last 25 years, however, we still have schools with thatched roofs and dirt floors Eradicating ranch schools is an obligation of the National Government, which said that education would be the star of this government,” he said.
Among the other issues is the decentralization of the educational system.
“Although it is approved, the centralism in decision-making on the distribution of resources is still too centralized,” Sánchez concluded.
