So far in 2022, almost 2 million tourists Foreigners entered the country, as recently reported by the National Directorate of Migration, who also reported that the number of international citizens exceeds those registered before the coronavirus pandemic.
Although, in total, 3.5 million visitors have entered the country; of this total, 1.8 million were touristssince they spent at least one night in the national territory.
The arrival of the tourists has generated an economic impact of more than 1,700 million dollarsaccording to Migrations, while, in July, during the winter holidays, they left income in the country for 323 million dollars.
This meant a recovery of 88% for the tourism sector that, throughout the year, has had a great movement, encouraged, in large part, by the Pre-Trip program promoted by the Government.
From the Ministry of Tourism, they explained that the most chosen destinations were: the City of Buenos Aires, the Patagonian snow destinations, Misiones, Salta and Mendoza.
Regarding the places of origin of the visitors, the majority come from Brazil, which represents 22% of the total visits, followed by Uruguay with 19%, while Chile and Paraguay have 10% respectively. For its part, the United States is the first non-regional country in the ranking with 8.5% participation.
The most used means of transport were air with 48%, where the Ezeiza airport was the most used access. In second place were land vehicles with 40%, followed by water vehicles (river and sea) that added 12%.
Matías Lammens highlighted the recovery of the sector
The Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens stressed that the arrival of visitors the country contributes a lot to the regional economies and one of the most important sectors, tourism.
The president pointed out that the recovery of the sector is progressing “at a very good pace” and that, with the Pre-Trip plan, they aim to maintain high demand during the low seasons, which are also expected to be record high.
