Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royonaffirmed this Wednesday that the national government has decided to promote the activity of gas and oil with “an adequate regulatory framework supporting current and future investments“, a sector considered to have a high impact on employment, exports and macroeconomic balance.
Royon closed the second meeting Argentina Energy Summit which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Puerto Madero, accompanied by the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, Federico Bernal.
“The energy sector is an activity with a high positive impact on the dynamics of investment, employment and exports. In particular, the hydrocarbon sector is key to achieve macroeconomic balance with derivation in economic and social benefits for its strong emphasis on quality employment and development of the value chains of small and medium-sized companies,” said the official.
In particular, Royón assured that “in gas and oil, the decision is generate conditions to enhance the activityd with the development of an adequate regulatory framework that supports current and future investments for self-sufficiency and strengthens the trade balance”.
In that sense, he completed that “signals as a government will influence investment decisions and the consolidation of the energy sector.”

Royon stressed that the government is advancing with “strategic works” such as the construction of the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline that “will serve to increase gas production, facilitate transportation to the main consumption centers and project new works to reach the region and the world market. “.
He also pointed out that “another pillar to be strengthened is the role of offshore exploration and exploitation, which is not only an important source of oil and gas but also encourages new discoveries of conventional hydrocarbons”, for which he described it as “decisive for the present and future of the country.
Offshore production has a 90-year history, but since then less than 200 wells have been completed, despite which it contributes 20% of the gas with 36 productive wells in the southern basin and the challenge is to multiply it.
