The opposition, and its fierce critic allied to the security policy, have dedicated themselves to issuing certificates of flagrant ineffectiveness. The sentences have been sound and concurrent for others. They have also been daily and comprehensive. The strategy – they doubt if there is one – is summed up in the clumsy slogan “hugs and not bullets” which, at most, they hold sarcastically, aspires to ridicule. The basis of support for the governance of a State falls, it is well known, on this factor that constitutes it as such. Legitimacy, in addition to being rooted in the citizen vote, contains a basic expression of peaceful coexistence. But the opposition position has been unleashed and thrown forward, without any hesitation, alleging the total failure of the government’s claims. The thousands of violent deaths, year after year, support their assessments. But they have not paid attention, and less trust, in the recent reports, presented with openness and detail, by those in charge of security. They are discarded as propaganda preaching that stumbles, head-on, with the stubborn reality, but discordant with their brainy dictates.
