The representative of the township of Isla Grande, in the province of Colón, Dimas Melchor Menchaca, was arrested this morning during Operation ‘Fire’, carried out by the National Aeronaval Service and the National Police.
According to the authorities, after several months of monitoring, Melchor was linked to criminal acts of drug trafficking. Operation Fuego dismantled this Wednesday, August 24, a money laundering network with links in the Costa Arriba of Colón, Panama Oeste and Panama City.
They reported that naval and aerial means were used to reach the area and carry out the search procedures on the Costa Arriba de Colón. It should be noted that the representative’s arrest took place in a luxurious residence and from there he was transferred to Panama City to be presented before a guarantee judge.
In this operation, the authorities carried out more than 45 raids with which an organization dedicated to receiving large shipments of illicit substances from Colombia was dismantled, using the Atlantic Coast for storage, custody of equipment and others.
