“Defense of territory, culture and life against the extractivist advance” is the book published by Paraguayan researchers in the framework of the nineteenth annual meeting of the Working Group “Critical Studies of Rural Development”.
Hugo Pereira, categorized in the National Research Incentive Program, together with other researchers in the area, published the book at the nineteenth annual meeting of the “Critical Studies of Rural Development” Working Group, which was declared of Scientific Interest by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).
The book is focused on multidisciplinary analyzes of the expansion of capitalism in the countryside and the original resistance, peasant and worker, constitutive of the production of counter-hegemonic projects of society. On the other hand, the material is made up of 3 thematic axes, 11 articles and a section of political documents prepared on the occasion of the meeting in Paraguay.
To support the analyses, the authors adopted as methodological procedures the reading of the theoretical framework, field trips and semi-structured interviews. In the communities, a strong presence of women in the process of conservation and multiplication of native seeds has been confirmed, they detail that they always use the backyards, the surroundings of the house and their orchards for the production of various foods. and seeds.
