The company Construcciones y Maintenance General, SA will be in charge of the project that includes, among other things, classrooms, laboratories, sports areas and a clinic.
After several years of waiting and after three unsuccessful bids, it was finally possible to contract a company that would carry out the construction of the Escuela República de Venezuela and the Instituto Comercial Bolívar.
According to the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalonos, with the approval of the Council of Ministers, a construction company was contracted, through an exceptional procedure, which complies with the administrative procedures inherent in the contract, for the signing of this document. and its subsequent endorsement by the Comptroller General of the Republic.
The public act and the contracting was carried out for an amount of $19.1 million, awarded to the company Construcciones y Maintenance General, SA, and according to the minister, all the information on what is included in the project for the construction and fitting out of the two schools, such as laboratories, sports areas, a clinic and everything the school requires is published on the Panama Compra portal.
“We made an online quote, obviously because of the time involved, and that online hiring had already been presented for exceptional hiring, with the educational community and I think that 3 weeks ago the cabinet council approved that online hiring and I think that maybe by next month we will be able to see how those structures are going to be demolished especially with what was going on inside with people who shouldn’t be… And what it means for some students who are rented in buildings surrounding the area of the old School”
This project was scheduled to be delivered in at least 600 days, so the minister stipulates that the work could be delivered in the first months of 2024.
The República de Venezuela School registers an enrollment of 673 primary school students. The Bolívar Commercial Institute, adds 800 divided into the baccalaureates in Tourism, Commerce and Accounting.
