At least 43 people apprehended through operation ‘Fire’


In this operation, an organization dedicated to receiving large shipments of illicit substances from Colombia was dismantled, using the Atlantic coast for storage, custody of equipment and others.

Since the early hours of this Wednesday, the First Drug Prosecutor’s Office, with the support of the National Police, carried out “Operation Fire” in Panama, Colon and West Panama.

In this operation, an organization dedicated to receiving large shipments of illicit substances from Colombia was dismantled, using the Atlantic coast for storage, custody of equipment and others.

The apprehended group’s modus operandi is to coordinate all the logistics of illicit activities, through meetings and telephone communications, having the province of Colón as its main operational area.

The organization is also linked to 34 seizures of illicit substances, firearms, money, and homicides. In this operation, evidence that is part of this investigation was located.

According to data from the Public Ministry, at least 43 people have been captured in 45 raids conducted by the Drug Prosecutor’s Office.
