The government of Rio de Janeiro will open, today (23) in the afternoon, another post for the diagnosis of monkeypox. It will be in São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region, and will work from Monday to Friday, in the annex of the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in the Columbandê neighborhood. The Health Department warned that there is no clinical care there.
He added that the collection of material at the posts will be carried out only in patients referred by public health units, after carrying out a clinical examination that indicates the suspicion of contamination.
“The referral needs to be done by a unit of the public network so that suspected cases can be notified and properly monitored by municipal and state surveillance”, he explained.
The samples will be received by the Noel Nutels Central Laboratory (Lacen-RJ), in downtown Rio, and sent for analysis in laboratories referenced by the Ministry of Health in the state of Rio.
“After attending the collection points in the state, the patient must return to the health unit where he received medical care to know the test result”, announced the Health Department.
