The president of the board of directors of the National College of Pharmacists (Conalfarm), Jaime Olive, expressed his satisfaction and support for the results obtained in the Medication Technical Table, led by the vice president and minister of the Presidency, José Gabriel Carrizo.
For Olive, the results obtained are the product of the effort of all the commissions made up of various groups, which were convened under the leadership of the vice president and whose fruits are already being seen, from the legal point of view.
In this regard, he referred to Executive Decree No. 115 of August 16, 2022, which repeals No. 95 of May 14, 2019 and regulates Law 1 on Medicines and other Products for Human Health.
He explained that this decree establishes, specifically, the registration of the bidder in a more dynamic way to establish the technical data sheets and that only those that come from organizations such as the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), or others that Panama recognizes.
“It represents a great advance to avoid the manipulation of the technical files at a given moment. Likewise, the supply contracts included at the end of Executive Decree No. 115 so that the State can perfect contracts by groups and both the Ministry of Health and the Social Security Fund benefit in terms of the cost or price of the products”, he pointed out.
He also mentioned Resolution No. 82, which establishes the 30% reduction on the sale price in relation to the prices that were in force as of June 30, 2022, by international drug manufacturing laboratories and drug distribution companies.
For Olive, the important thing is to guarantee the health of Panamanians at the lowest possible price and to focus more on the preventive aspect.
