Supporters and opponents of the Argentine vice president, Cristina Kirchner, went to demonstrate in front of her house in Buenos Aires, where scenes of tension were generated and the police intervened to separate the sides, AFP found.

The protesters gathered in the charming Recoleta neighborhood at the beginning of the night, shortly after a prosecutor requested 12 years in prison for the former president in a process for alleged corruption.
Some hundreds of opponents celebrated with Argentine flags, whistles and saucepans the request for condemnation, singing slogans hostile to the center-left Peronist vice president.
More numerous, the followers of Kirchner were approaching later and the police of Buenos Aires deployed armed and put together a cordon to keep them apart.
Pushing between Kirchner supporters who were trying to approach the door of the building and the police caused the agents to use tear gas. Argentine media reported the arrest of a provincial deputy.
Given the police response, Kirchner tweeted: “The police of (Horacio) Rodríguez Larreta joins the aggression against me”, in reference to the mayor of Buenos Aires (centre-right).
“He repressed citizens who approached with sticks, pepper spray and tear gas (…) as a show of support against the insults of a group” related to former president Mauricio Macri, he denounced.

After more than three hours, supporters of the vice president remained in place, chanting slogans in their favor, while the troops reinforced by the federal police seemed to have the situation under control.
