Income distribution experienced a slight improvement in the third quarter of the year, according to figures released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).
This progress in the equity of the distribution of national income was expressed in the measurements carried out by the official institute, which show that the so-called Gini coefficient stood at 0.441 points at the end of the third quarter compared to a mark of 0.443 registered between July and September of last year.
The Gini Coefficient indicates an absolute equity when the measurement is “zero” and a table of total inequity when it is equal to “one”, therefore, when falling in this period, it shows the indicated improvement.
This slight improvement in income distribution took place within the framework of an 11% growth in Gross Domestic Product, an unemployment rate that fell sharply to 8.2% from 11.7% in July-September of last year.
Indec also reported that 60% of the employed population registered an average salary of $ 50,000 per month during the period under analysis.
While 60% of the households had total incomes of up to $ 90,000, when adding the average assets of the members who carry out some type of activity.
At the household level, the poorest 10 percent only accounted for 1.9% of total income, while the richest decile accounted for 29.3% of income.
