journalist and writer Alfredo Rodríguez denounced on his social networks that one of his books circulates in a pirated versionwhich differs in many ways from the original.

Is about feline tales, book which is part of a series of publications by the author dedicated to young readers, such as Anti-tantrum tales and Tales to take into account.

One of the first differences has to do with size; while the original has a square format, the pirated version is taller.

One aspect that the author notes is that this pirated version comes in a very small font sizecompared to Rodríguez’s book, which has larger, more legible print.

Likewise, this illegal edition includes the same illustrations of the original book, but in black and white and totally distorted in size and shape.

“They do us a lot of damage, not only to me, behind the book there is a productive chain That includes designers, illustrators, printers, distributors, and the author, of course. We all receive a part of what this book generates, in economic terms. From the pirate version, only the pirate, the one with the patch, he and nobody else benefits. He is a thief, a criminal who lives off the work of others ”, Rodriguez expresses.

And he stresses that these pirated versions “barely cost five or six pesos less” than the original copies. “Not worth it, for what the reader is going to get in the end”, he assures.

The writer confesses that he is afraid to approach the corresponding judicial instances in order to initiate a process, because he does not have the resources to finance an investigation and asks readers to help him combat this scourge by buying original books.

“Previously, the Departmental Book Chamber initiated processes and intervened in some businesses, but it did not go very far. They are very powerful mafias, which are present throughout the country. Let’s not buy pirated books, do not buy anywhere, there are places to buy original booksthere are bookstores and there are the fairs in which we writers participate, legally established spaces”, he added.

Rodriguez recounted that at the last La Paz Book Fair he sold 900 copies of his worksthat gives him hope that people will continue to support his work and that of other national authors.
