The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) reported this Friday that the Ushuaia delegation detected a consignment of 200 alleged video plates that were actually “simple empty boxes” that, if released into the market, “would have caused a loss of US$ 356,000”.
Alerted by the complaint of a similar case recently denounced in the Federal Court of Rio Grande, the customs agents “verified the arrival of the false video plates, invoiced by the same seller domiciled in the United States,” the DGA said in a statement.
“In reality, they were simple models with the pretense of carrying out fraudulent maneuvers to improperly transfer foreign currency abroad and that, if they had achieved their goal, would have caused a loss of US $ 356,000”added the agency.
According to the entity led by Guillermo Michel, “the import firm simulated operations with a firm with apparent ties and based in the United States in order to introduce ‘technological garbage’ to the Special Customs Area, simulating that it was computer material.”
Days ago a similar maneuver had been denounced for a value of almost US $ 1,500,000“much higher than the value of what was actually imported, which was around US$30,000,” he added.
The Customs explained in both cases “it was a new simulation aimed at obtaining cheap dollars to later turn them abroad or benefit from the so-called ‘financial loop’ in a clearly speculative and illicit maneuver“.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Regional Investigations Division observed that in the logo of the packaging there was “a legend of a signature that in no document appears declared as an intermediary and apparently based in Panama.”
“This is a company that, through the Internet, offers video cards of the hyperforce brandwhich is precisely the mark of the denounced plates”, specified the Customs, adding that “when proceeding to the analysis of the domain of that web page, the data of a person who would be the president of the firm KMG Fueguina SA arise”.
The DGA warned that, in case of judicial corroboration, “it could be affirmed that in addition to the simulation already denounced, there would not be a commercial transaction configured as such.”
“We would be in the presence of people who sell themselves through the additional ruse of creating ghost companies in other latitudes where their constitution is not difficult and who organize themselves only to commit this type of crime,” he concluded.
