SUTEL declares that in the face of the conflict situation resolved in the previous National Congress by the union’s claim platform, it reaffirms the need for: “urgent entry of personnel, regularization of outsourced workers and budgeting of public service contracts.”
The telecommunications union demands from the authorities “a collective bargaining that meets the objectives of communication and decisions.”
They reaffirm ANTEL’s defense against the government’s attempts to weaken and liquidate the Uruguayan public company by giving away ‘type B’ licenses to cable operators in Montevideo, as well as ANTEL’s infrastructure.

For this reason, they announce that they will begin to hold informative assemblies with “perlated stoppages by sector, informing the public of the current situation of ANTEL.”
Likewise, the union will carry out a propaganda campaign in defense of the telecommunications company, which is to “defend the sovereignty and heritage of Uruguayans.”
The union also resolved to actively participate in the preparation of the 24-hour national general strike resolved by the PIT-CNT, for September 15.
In another order, almost 30 years after the historic plebiscite of ’92, against the privatization of public companies, they call on the people, once again, “to defend ANTEL, a public company of all Uruguayans.”
