Pentagon announces new military aid for Ukraine

On Friday, the Pentagon announced more military aid to Ukraine worth about 775 million dollars, which includes various types of missiles, artillery and anti-mine systems.

The package includes more missiles for HIMARS precision artillery systems, which have enabled Ukrainian forces to attack Russian command centers and ammunition depots, and more anti-armor weapons, including TOW missiles and Javelin systems.

“We want to make sure that Ukraine has a constant flow of ammunition to meet its needs, and that is what we are doing with this package,” a senior US defense official told reporters.

He also said that Ukrainian forces have made good use of the 19 weapons packages that the United States has provided since Moscow invaded Ukrainian territory on February 24.

“The Russians continue to pay a high price with Ukrainian attacks, especially with the HIMARS system,” said the official, who admitted that the Ukrainians have been unable to recapture significant territory along the front lines in the east and south. from the country.

The new weapons package will help strengthen them, he said, noting the importance of “maintaining the successes we have seen from the Ukrainians on the battlefield.”
