This was the first time, after 11 years of career, that the paulista won a stage on the world circuit. However, even with the triumph in Tahiti, Miguel Puppo was left out of the WSL Finals (special stage in which the world titles will be disputed between the top-5 of the ranking in September in California), competition that will involve the Brazilians Filipe Toledo and Italo Ferreira, the Australians Ethan Ewing and Jack Robinson and the Japanese Kanoa Igarashi.
North American wins in women’s
Among the women, the title went to the North American Courtney Conlogue, tormentor of the Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb in Teahupo’o. The American secured the victory by defeating Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy in the decision by 11.67 to 5.20.
