This was the first case that evidenced the use of the figure of outrages to authority by the Veracruz authorities to make arrests and charges.
As it is a non-serious crime, Franco Castán was about to obtain his freedom, but the Veracruz prosecutor’s office charged him with three other crimes: extortion, abuse of authority and crimes committed by public servants. Although initially the PRD did the legal accompaniment, one of Rogelio Franco’s daughters accused that the party ignored the matter.
Tito Delfín Cano
On November 27 of this year, Tito Delfín Cano, a candidate for the state leadership of the National Action Party (PAN) and close to former governor Miguel Ángel Yunes, was arrested.
The Veracruz prosecutor’s office accuses him of abuse of authority, breach of a legal duty and fraud. According to Delfín Cano’s daughter, the arrest was carried out without the agents showing an arrest warrant. While in social networks some PAN members demonstrated against the “unjustified” arrest.
Fabian Cardenas
Not even the politicians of Morena have been spared. Fabián Cárdenas, mayor-elect of Lerdo de Tejada and owner of the Atlético Sozca team, of the Third Soccer Division, was arrested on December 1 in Xalapa for the crime of kidnapping.
At the time of his arrest, Fabián Cárdenas was with his partner, Adriana Bichi, then head of the Gender Unit of the state prosecutor’s office, who opposed the arrest and use of force against the elected mayor, so she was also arrested for “outrages to authority.”
Omar ramirez
On June 23 of this year, the Veracruz prosecutor’s office detained Omar Ramírez Fuentes, mayor-elect of Cazones, to be investigated for the murder of René Tovar.
After the murder, Ramírez Fuentes, Tovar’s campaign manager, was appointed as MC’s alternate candidate and since René Tovar won the June 6 elections even after he was assassinated, he took his place.
Gregorio Gómez Martínez
On April 7 of this year, Gregorio Gómez Martínez, then a candidate for mayor of Tihuatlán, was arrested for crimes of the same kind, such as carrying firearms, possession of a stolen vehicle and, of course, outrages to the authority. for which he was sentenced to preventive detention.
According to the versions of his relatives, at the time of his arrest the authorities did not show an official order either. In fact, his relatives learned of his whereabouts several hours later.
In this case, the PRD also accused that it was a political persecution and affirmed that they would take charge of the legal defense of Gómez Martínez.
