FG – Ñemongeta decide this Tuesday whether or not to continue in the Concertación

The Guasu – Ñemongeta Front will hold a meeting at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Tekojoja party headquarters. The objective is to define whether the opposition bloc remains within the Coalition, or definitely leaves to contest the elections independently.

Vidalia Benítez, union leader and member of the Patriotic Front Teete (PFPT) party, reported that in tomorrow’s meeting they will decide whether to remain within the Coalition or go for their own presidential badge. “We believe that a final decision will be made. So far, only opinions are coming out. But what we want is to wait on Tuesday for it to be resolved institutionally, ”she said.

Benítez is one of the names that are being considered to integrate the presidential badge with a view to the presidential ones by the Guasu Front. The names of senators Sixto Pereira and Miguel Fulgencio “Kencho” Rodríguez are also handled. “I am very grateful for the trust of the people who are trusting me, who are putting me as an option. I would have no problem accepting if they so decide. I would like the Guasu Front to be strengthened as a political project that we have built for years. Hopefully it will not be divided anywhere, ”he said.

Esperanza Martínez, current senator of the FG, was elected as the presidential candidate of the Guasu Front on April 24. However, on August 15, she decided to decline her bid to run for re-election in the Senate. For this reason, the FG – Ñemongeta parties are looking for another candidate to run for the presidency. “The desire of our bases is that we have our own candidate. Most of the militancy, but it has to be resolved within the institutional framework. I am no stranger to the request of some colleagues. And if they propose me, they wouldn’t deny me, because I’m just another soldier,” she commented.

Johanna Ortega, candidate for deputy for Asunción for the Coalition, affirmed that the FG’s decision to leave or stay is taken as a bloc, it is the parties that are part of it, each one makes its own decisions. “Although the entry to the Coalition was given in a group, in the political act, in the signing in terms of legality, it was given individually. Now each party is in debate about its internal permanence. My Solidarity Country party made the decision to stay within the Concertación,” she commented.

He regretted that many parties do not realize that his departure represents a lack of commitment to unity and to being a true opposition in the country to the Colorado Party.
