Brazilian Government Greets President-elect of Chile

On Thursday (23), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note presenting the compliments of the Brazilian government to the elected president of Chile, Gabriel Boric. At 35, the former student leader is the youngest president elected by Chileans.

“By reaffirming the solidity of the bonds of friendship and cooperation, the Brazilian government signals its willingness to work with the Chilean authorities to strengthen bilateral and regional initiatives in favor of the objectives of economic development, defense of freedom and democracy and respect for Rule of Law,” says the note, released four days after the election results.

With 54.72% of the valid votes, Boric won, last Sunday (19), the second round of presidential elections in Chile. His opponent, José Antonio Kast, representative of a coalition of right-wing parties, got 45.28% of the valid votes. Hours after the result was announced, Kast acknowledged defeat and congratulated the president-elect on social media. Brazilian Government Greets President-elect of Chile
