The San Luis Ministry of Health reported this Thursday that given the increase in coronavirus cases in the province in recent weeks, it was determined that the Omicron variant is the one that predominates in the positive results.
Minister Rosa Dávila said in a statement that the data was confirmed from “an extraordinary screening” carried out by the Dalmiro Pérez Laborda public health laboratory this week, due to the increase in cases detected in recent days.
In it, “co-circulation of samples compatible with the Omicron variant (53.12%) and Delta (43.75%)” was detected and they were sent to the Malbrán Institute for confirmation by genomic sequencing.
He also added that positive cases perform isolation for ten days, as determined by national regulations, from the moment of their confirmation.
Faced with this situation, he reiterated the request to resume essential Coronavirus prevention care: use of the chinstrap, hand hygiene, use of alcohol gel, maintain physical distance, ventilation of the environments and be vaccinated to avoid the presentation of serious symptoms.
“All vaccines are effective at the time of preventing serious symptoms in case of infection and reduce the possibility of reaching an admission to intensive care, so we ask the community to complete the vaccination schedules and attend the vaccinations”, emphasized the minister.
Yesterday, 57 positive cases were reported in San Luis, a number that has been increasing for a few weeks, surpassing figures for the months of October and November.
