Interior evicted occupied educational centers at the request of ANEP

IPA

The Ministry of the Interior evicted during the early hours of this Thursday, the educational centers occupied by students. The measure was taken after a resolution of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), which requested this proceeding from the portfolio.

In this sense, ANEP requested on Wednesday night the vacating of nine educational centers. Among these, the Teacher Training Building and the Artigas Institute of Teachers in Montevideo, where the director of Security and Citizen Coexistence, Santiago González, attended, accompanied by police officers.

“They were occupying as a protest measure. What we did is come, in dialogue, in excellent dialogue with the boys. An hour was set for the eviction, then there is a delivery certificate, and normal, as it should be, “González pointed out to the media during the operation.

“They in the same tune, same warmth, same respect. And I think that should be valued from them. Many times they want to stir things up. And yet, on the contrary, it was with respect, well, “added the hierarch.

Meanwhile, from the Teaching Student Center they said they had a “friendly” dialogue with the police authorities. “We are going to evacuate in peace. They wanted to ask us to leave in half an hour and it seemed to us that it was not enough, so appealing to dialogue and democratic negotiation, we, the student teachers, managed to give us an hour to vacate”, they affirmed.

ANEP considers that the measure did not favor dialogue

The ANEP issued a statement stating that the institution “has always had its doors open to dialogue, the exchange of ideas and constructive opinions. This is why, he continues, the occupations of institutes and centers are rejected “because it is a measure that does not favor dialogue.” In this sense, students are invited to make use of their legitimate representation.

According to the Education Training Council (CFE), the occupation of the establishments “inhibits” the right of students who do not agree with this measure.

Silva’s support for the unemployment and announcement of other

The president of the Central Board of Directors (Codicen), Robert Silva, supported the resolution and defended “the right to education and the right to work” that are affected after the occupation of students from various study centers in the country claiming the resources allocated to education in Accountability.

Despite this, Silva “fully” ratified the will for dialogue on the part of the education authorities. In this sense, he stressed that the Education Training Council (CFE) has opened an instance of dialogue for next Friday.

Faced with this announcement, after requesting an intermediate room, several legislators from the Broad Front, who were in Parliament discussing the text sent by the Executive Branch, approached the IPA building and the Teachers’ Office in a show of support.

A priori, the students announced that this Thursday they would return to occupy educational centers.
