The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the free nomination, Gerardo Barroso, went this Wednesday to the headquarters of the Electoral Court (TE) to denounce the alleged purchase of signatures, a process that began this Monday, August 15.
“Let the country know that ‘made the law, made the trap’ has already been included in the free application process. The oligarchs want to take over the candidacies for free application and are already paying money to collect the signatures,” he said.
Barroso emphasized that this action is a crime, since the Electoral Code only allows activists to be given a sweater, food, or to pay for bus tickets or lodging, “but not that they are not giving $2 and $3 for each signature.”
According to the candidate, on Tuesday he confirmed this fact on the San Miguelito overpass, where a group of activists told him that the “oligarchs” were paying him.
“They know who they are, the name of the candidate, those who have the ticket here in Panama, some who have the ticket and others who are financed by the oligarchs,” he said.
Barroso indicated that he would file the complaint with the Electoral Organization office of the TE, then with the Administrative Court and the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office.
