“It implies the displacement of a subject-based education towards a model that contemplates the interaction of knowledge from various disciplines,” the document explains.
According to the new curriculum, the subject-based system encourages a fragmentation of teaching and learning. In contrast, the training fields reorganize the fundamental contents of basic education based on the contributions of different disciplines.
The four training fields are: languages; knowledge and scientific thought; ethics, nature and societies, and the human and the community.

Phase 1: Initial education. It contemplates minors from 0 to 2 years, 11 months of age.
Phase 2: Preschool education: first, second and third grade.
Phase 3: Primary education: first and second grade.
Phase 4: Third and fourth grade of elementary school.
Phase 5: Fifth and sixth grade of elementary school.
Phase 6: The three grades of secondary education.
Evaluation
The new plan indicates that the meaning of evaluation should be reconsidered so that it favors the progress of students according to their own conditions, rhythms and learning styles.
It points out that the evaluation will not be reduced to the revision of tasks as evidence of the students’ work, the filling of forms and the qualification of exams.
It establishes that teachers have the autonomy to contextualize the evaluation criteria and the contents of the study programs in accordance with the social, territorial, cultural and educational reality of the students.
This implies moving to a “formative assessment” model, which goes beyond assigning grades and observes and reflects on the educational development of students.
