Bolivia begins the second half of August with 2,334 new positive cases of covid-19, according to the report presented by the Ministry of Health this Tuesday, where another 9,988 tests were discarded. The number of new infections is still higher than the number of recovered patients (2,087).

There is a downward trend in some regions, but the alert is still active because infections are still counted in the hundreds. La Paz is the region with the highest number of new positives (706), followed by Santa Cruz (658), Cochabamba (428)Potosí (146), Chuquisaca (140), Tarija (125), Oruro (101), Beni (16) and Pando (14).

The report issued by the National Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health and Sports establishes that the national accumulated of infected patients until this day amounts to 1,086,347while those recovered are 1,002,731.

Similarly, the report states that six people died this August 16 due to the virus, and the fatality rate so far reaches 0.1%.

Regarding vaccination, Health reported that To date, 14,818,312 doses have been applied between the first, second, third, single dose and fourth dose to the different age groups of the Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Janssen vaccines throughout the national territory.
