In the Purple Party (PM), the situation is no different. After Julio Guzmán resigns from the presidency, the group has decided to hold internal elections in order to find a new representative politician presiding over the party.
Despite the fact that the glances pointed towards the former president Francisco Sagasti As the next president of the morados, it is known that he will not have any participation in the internal elections. However, he will fulfill the role of counselor in order to ensure a good electoral process, according to Luis Durán, current candidate for the party’s presidency.
“Francisco Sagasti is not running for the internal elections. He has an important role in the party, his role is to be an advisor for the coming political process. Because our interest is to build a bet on a republican center ”, he pointed.

On the other hand, Durán assured that the founder and former president of the party, Julio Guzmán, will not be part of the elections either, since he is now teaching in the United States. “Julio Guzmán has already announced the call for elections for December 30 and he is not going to intervene anymore,” said the candidate during an interview on TV Peru.
As recalled, Julio Guzmán has spoken through a statement issued on December 1 and has urged the group to participate in the internal electoral process in order to find a new leader in the most democratic way.
“All purple militants aspire to a transparent, representative, and agile election process. I ask that we support the process and facilitate the work of those responsible. Let’s remember: The Purple Party, our party, has the privilege of experiencing an institutional and democratic transition. Let’s not waste this great opportunity ”, Guzmán stated.
