Covid-19: Brazil registers 3,451 cases and 143 deaths in 24 hours

The number of people infected by the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic reached 22,222,928, according to a balance released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday (22). In 24 hours, health authorities registered 3,451 positive diagnoses of the disease. The total number of deaths caused by covid-19 reached 618,091. Between yesterday and today, state and municipal health departments have confirmed over 143 deaths. There are still 2,726 deaths under investigation. This situation occurs because there are cases in which the patient died, but investigation of the cause requires further examinations and procedures. As of this Wednesday, 21,516,819 people had recovered from the disease.

In the balance released by the ministry, 12 units of the Federation present data on cases, deaths or both referring to Tuesday (21).

States

According to the balance, the state with the most deaths by covid-19, so far, remains São Paulo, with 155,048 records. Then come Rio de Janeiro (69,347 – with data for yesterday), Minas Gerais (56,592), Paraná (40,872) and Rio Grande do Sul (36,390).

The states with the fewest deaths from the disease are Acre (1,850), Amapá (2010), Roraima (2,070), Tocantins (3,927) and Sergipe (6,056). Of these five states, only Roraima does not have yesterday’s data on deaths.

Vaccination data remain unavailable since the beginning of the month, when the ministry said its database had been the target of an attack.
