Monsignor Rolando Álvarez insists on praying for peace in Nicaragua

Since the forced confinement in the Episcopal Curia of Matagalpa, to which the Daniel Ortega regime has subjected Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, the bishop officiated a mass this Sunday morning, August 14, where he called on Nicaraguans to continue praying for him and by the priests and laity who accompany him.

The religious expressed his joy at the welcome that dozens of parishioners gave to the venerated pilgrim image of Our Lady of Fatima in the San Pedro Cathedral Church.

«With the joy that the Risen Lord gives us, the winner of death, of darkness, of darkness. Light of the world that shines and that illuminates, of having greeted, received and welcomed our Lady of Fatima who will accompany us throughout the journey of our second diocesan synod, with that joy in our hearts that comes from Christ and that nothing and no one you can remove it,” he said.

The apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Estelí recalled the periods of prayer he has called for the restoration of peace in Nicaragua and the end of the repression against the Church and the Nicaraguan people.

After more than a week of forced confinement, Álvarez’s face looks tired, like that of the other people who accompany him, however the religious has called not to faint.
