The Senate approved in committee the modifications of the Personal Property Tax

The debate in deputies was the previous step to the current opinion.

The Senate Budget Committee issued this Wednesday a favorable opinion to the bill that modifies the Personal Property Tax, approved this Tuesday by the Chamber of Deputies.

The ruling was supported by the ruling party but rejected by the opposition, which proposed to keep the original project endorsed by the Senate without the modifications made by the lower house.

With the passage to the signing of the rule, the text was in a position to be dealt with by the full Senate in a session that could be convened for next Thursday 29.

The senator of JxC Martín Lousteau announced that the interblock would not follow the changes and would present a minority opinion in disagreement with articles that suppose, he said, “a bad delegation of powers.”

Representing the Frente de Todos, Senator for Entre Ríos Edgardo Kueider highlighted the importance of seeking “consensus” to discuss this type of initiative, and questioned the attitude of Together for Change of not being open to debate.

The project, which raises the minimum non-taxable amount from which the tax will be paid from 2 to 6 million pesos, adds an increase to the aliquots for assets over $ 100 million and for those who declare assets abroad.

At the meeting that began after 11:30, the senator of the Frente de Todos for La Rioja, Ricardo Guerra, was elected as president of the commission; and his pair of Juntos por el Cambio por Chaco, Víctor Zimerman, as vice president.

At the opening of the hearing, opposition senators expressed their disagreement over the proportionality that the ruling party established in the formation of the commission.

The body will have a large majority for the government: nine members out of 17, who could be added to one of their usual allies, the representative of Juntos Somos Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, also designated as a member.

On behalf of JxC, Senator Guadalupe Tagliaferri considered that eight legislators would correspond to the FdT instead of nine, and pointed out that the formation of this form “violates the democratic spirit and the choice of citizens who have decided to modify the composition of the Chamber of Senators ”.

In response, Senator Juliana Di Tulio (FdT-Buenos Aires) clarified that the current conformation was decided after “an agreement that was concluded between the presidents of the blocs”, asked the opposition to “make no mistakes” and considered that ” this commission belongs to the Executive Power ”.
