Foreign Minister: In the transmission of command from Colombia, what stood out was the absence of Pedro Castillo

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Rodríguez Mackay, spoke about the absence of the president peter castle at the Gustavo Petro presidential inauguration ceremony, which took place on August 7 in Bogotá, Colombia.

The foreign minister pointed out that the absence of the Peruvian head of state was what stood out the most in the inauguration, which was attended by leaders from various countries in the region. In that sense, he urged Congress to think about national interests, since it was this power of the State that did not give him the authorization to travel to Castillo Terrones.

“Now that we have gone with Vice President Dina Boluarte to Colombia for the transfer of command, if there was one thing that stood out the most, it was the absence of President Castillo, an absence that should never have occurred.. We have to think about the national interests, when you think about the national interest you have to superimpose the values against the circumstances of an internal political portfolio”, he stated in an interview with TV Peru.

Next, Rodríguez Mackay thanked the statement published by the Mexican Foreign Ministry in conjunction with the governments of Argentina, Bolivia and Ecuador, to make a call to the institutions and political forces of Peru in order to strengthen dialogue and overcome the tense political situation that is currently living.

“On behalf of the Government of Peru, we express our profound gratitude to the friendly countries that, in an act of solidarity, have made this political gesture and deep social expression of concern“, held.

“There is concern from the outside about what is happening in the country. We must look at the strengths, opportunities and threats of international relations”, he added.
