The mayor of Canelones Yamandú Orsi spoke this Saturday at a press conference and questioned President Luis Lacalle Pou for his criticism of the Broad Front administration for the deployment of fiber optics in peripheral neighborhoods.
“We have to stop a little with the ads. The president was wrong when he made an announcement throwing a big blow for the previous government. He is the president of all of us,” he said.
The president had said that the previous government put fiber optics in Malvín and Pocitos and that his management had taken it to Casavalle.
“The previous government put fiber optics in Pocitos and Malvín, this government will put it in Casavalle,” he said during an inauguration of two polyclinics in Las Piedras. Lacalle’s statements generated a quick response from the mayor of Montevideo and former president of Antel Carolina Cosse. “At least uninformed”, he wrote on Twitter.
For Orsi, the electoral campaign has never stopped since the 2019 elections and he regretted the constant confrontation.
The mayor also said that he was “surprised” by the position of the Frente Amplio mayor of Salto, Andrés Lima, on the case of Senator Charles Carrera.
Lima asked that the episode in which Carrera He is accused of covering up a case that occurred in 2012, when he was general director of the Secretariat of the Ministry of the Interior, in which a man was paralyzed by a stray bullet that allegedly came from the house of the deputy commissioner of La Paloma.
The mayor of Canelones added that he will discuss the issue with Carrera when he meets him and that he will ask him about his position.
