The mayor of Rocha, Alejo Umpiérrz, announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Esteña commune will exclusively reward certain workers who did not stop during the pandemic. They will be awarded a special item of $ 7,500, because they had to work during the first stage of the COVID-19 pandemic when there were no vaccines.
They will be given that amount “in recognition of the effort made, dedication and dedication,” says the pronouncement of the nationalist mayor, adding that “it is understood that it is of strict justice to grant an extra award to the officials affected by the collection of household waste, to the care of necropolis and the care of dining rooms that worked in the period of the pandemic ”.
Misunderstood?
Although it was Umpiérrez himself who made the award public on his social networks, a while later he assured that the press had published “deformations” of this extra bonus.
“Before the media that give news without listening to the press conference: we clarify that the award has nothing to do with union actions. ‘Not stopping’ is not stopping; because administrative workers worked one day and one day no and these services did it daily. We are not repressors ”, he added.
