The presidential delegate of the region of La Araucanía, Raúl Allard, confirmed the filing of a criminal complaint for the crime of arson against those responsible for an attack recorded this Friday on a farm in the commune of Angol.
The representative of La Moneda described the events as “extremely serious”, while reporting that the appeal will also seek to sanction the carrying of weapons and ammunition. In this way the Government reacts to the arson attack perpetrated in a forestry operation in the Rinconada estate, located in the Maitenrehue sector, exactly at kilometer 16 of the R-136 route. On the occasion, four unknown individuals burned 11 vehicles, especially forest machinery and trucks for transporting wood.
“The latest events in La Araucanía are extremely serious and it is not acceptable for armed groups to intimidate workers for the sole purpose of stealing vehicles or burning trucks, whatever their motivation,” Raúl Allard said, according to Emol.
“For the government of President Gabriel Boric, it is of the utmost importance to efficiently prosecute organized crime, which operates in some rural sectors of La Araucanía,” he added, referring to the attack that was awarded by the group calling itself “Toño Marchant”, which is part of of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM).
