Army destroys illegal dissident refinery in Tibú, Norte de Santander

In the midst of the operations carried out by the troops of the National Army, in the Catatumbo area, in the last few hours the location and subsequent destruction of an illegal crude oil refinery.

In this structure belonging to the FARC dissidents, distilled more than 24,000 gallons of crude stolen from the Caño Limón Coveñas Pipelinein the municipality of Tibú.

The development of this operation lasted about five days, the same was carried out in the path M-14 where the soldiers managed to locate this crude distillation complexwhich was made up of two pools with the capacity to store a large amount of illicitly stolen crude oil, affecting Ecopetrol’s economy and causing damage to the environment.

Likewise, material used to connect the refineries where was destroyed in a controlled manner by the Exde Explosives and Demolitions Team of the National Armywithout any harm to the environment.

In this way, the authorities in Norte de Santander manage to forcefully hit the finances of this criminal structure of the FARC dissidents, which according to a military source said that “through the theft of hydrocarbons and in an artisanal distillation process, converts crude oil into fuel, to carry out the processing of coca base paste for the purchase of weapons and explosives” he pointed out.

On the other hand, the National Army reported that it will continue its frontal and constant fight against drug trafficking throughout the department of Norte de Santander, making available the capacities for the protection of Nortesantandereans.

“That the offensive actions will continue against those who make up the FARC dissidents, and the ELN cartels, criminal structures in charge of attacking the Public Force,” it was indicated.
