The Venezuelan state-owned Pequiven, on behalf of the Nicolás Maduro administration, sent a list to the Barranquilla Chamber of Commerce with the names of the new managers of its subsidiary company Monómeros
The Barranquilla Chamber of Commerce (CCB) rejected the registration of a new board of directors of Monomers, presented by the administration of Nicolás Maduro in search of regaining control of the company.
The decision was notified to the company on Thursday, August 11, which is currently managed by the opposition, after it presented an opposition to the registration attempt made by Pequiven, the Colombian media reported. The Herald.
The president of the company, Guillermo Rodríguez, assured that the company undertook the responses that correspond officially and that it is the fourth time that something similar has been attempted by Maduro.
Monómeros is in charge of the opposition led by Juan Guaidó; however, inside the National Assembly of 2015 there are some deputies who question the course that the company has taken.
In the last days, the Maduro administration is carrying out a crusade in search of regaining control of this company, which he lost in 2019, as well as that of Citgo in the United States, the gold that is in the United Kingdom and the plane that was detained in Argentina and that the US Department of Justice seeks to confiscate.
After the announcement of the resumption of relations between Colombia and Venezuela, the question arises about what is coming for the company.
However, there is one aspect that must be considered and that is the recent approval for one more year of the license by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (Ofac) of the United States Department of the Treasury, which it was revoked during the management of the Chavista government.

Rodríguez added in an interview with The Herald that this response from the CCB is explained because its position is the one that has the legality in accordance with commercial legislation in Colombia.
“The concern of us of this Board and of this Management at this time is simply to obtain financing for the raw material so that the company continues to fulfill its role with its work of carrying out our project and seeking growth. The rest, which does not depend on us, we definitely have to put it aside », he indicated.
He highlighted that recently and just three days before its expiration, the company obtained the license from the OFAC without which the company cannot operate since it allows access to international credits and suppliers.
“The approach has been very clear that we cannot let the license be lost and if there is a relationship with Pequiven that is sanctioned in Venezuela, then the license would be lost, then the company would stop working,” he added.
The businessman said that he has reiterated to the incoming government of President Gustavo Petro the willingness to continue working with his accompaniment for the recovery of Colombian and Venezuelan agriculture as well.
“Our scheme is to produce for Colombia and for Venezuela and fortunately this commercial relationship is going to be opened,” he said.
According to the document seen by El Heraldo, The new board of directors appointed by Maduro is made up of: Luis Enrique Molina, Heifred Segovia, Eduardo Fernández Anaya, Mary Yerman Nava and Genesis Ron Solano. In addition, they will be as substitutes: Rosa Díaz, Ninoska Rodríguez, Nohemy Rodríguez, Marco Aurelio Piñero, Sergio Arias and Graed García Bocaranda.
This medium was aware of the minutes, filed on August 8 in the Chamber of Commerce, was criminally denounced by the current directors of Monómeros, for which the Superintendency of Companies It will be the entity that has the last word regarding the control of the company.
