A person suspected of being infected with monkeypox escaped from a hospital in Montero (Santa Cruz) and also refused to receive health personnel at his home, despite presenting symptoms of the disease.
“Clinically I had some symptoms, but due to the skin rashes he presented, he is still considered a suspected case. Due to this alarm, Headquarters have been notified, and they have been sent to Cenetrop to take the sample,” said an official from the medical center.
When the samples were to be taken, the person quickly left the hospital. Two doctors went to his home, but he closed the door and it was not possible to fulfill that task.
“Two people from the Cenetrop (National Center for Tropical Diseases) secretly went to his home, but he did not receive us and the samples were not obtained, but We continue with the epidemiological surveillance of the case, following up with the corresponding health center”, he narrowed down.
Thursday, the Ministry of Health confirmed the existence of 11 cases of monkeypox in the country, all corresponding to the department of Santa Cruz. Steps are now being taken to trace the contacts of those patients.
