After failing to qualify for the World Cup, the Peruvian Football Federation announced on Friday that he has not extended his contract with the national team coach, Ricardo Garecawhich also confirmed the decision on social networks.
Four years ago, the Argentine led Peru to their first World Cup berth since 1982. Gareca’s Peru finished the last edition of the South American World Cup qualifiers in fifth place with 24 points from 18 games. In the final phase of the qualifiers, Peru was eliminated by Australia in June in a penalty shootout 5-4 after a goalless draw in regulation time.
