Madrid Spain.- A group of 19 Cuban migrants (16 men and three women) were detained and taken into custody this Thursday, after they reached the US shores, by Cayo Marathon, in Florida.
As reported in his account Twitter Walter N. Slosar, chief of the marine salvage corps in the Miami Sector, “the migrants will be processed for removal procedures.”
Walter N. Slosar in his publication shared a video in which the boat in which the Cubans made the crossing can be seen. The rustic boat had the name “El triumphador” written by hand.

Last Tuesday 43 Cubans were returned from the United States to the Island after several interdictions that took place over the weekend.
Giving the information, Lieutenant Commander Ryan Newmeyer, of the Seventh Coast Guard District, pointed out: “The sea is unforgiving and trying to leave Cuba to reach the United States in an irregular and unsafe manner only aggravates the risks for you. and for others”.
As on previous occasions, and given the increase in migration by sea, the US authorities called for the use of “safe and legal ways to reach the United States.”
Since October 1, 2021, the date on which the current fiscal year began, Coast Guard crews have intercepted almost 4,000 Cubans.
The figure is only compared to that of fiscal year 2016, and is close to surpassing it. That year, 5,396 Cubans were intercepted at sea trying to reach the shores of the northern country.
In 2017, 1,468 Cuban migrants were arrested trying to migrate illegally; in 2018 the figure was 259; 313 in 2019; 49 in 2020, and 838 in 2021.
