The President Luis Abinader received this Wednesday response Canadian Prime Minister Justin Pierre James Trudeauafter the Dominican president thanked him for his rapid collaboration in rescuing the miners who remained trapped in the Cerro de Maimón mine.
Both the words of gratitude from President Abinader, and the response from the Prime Minister of Canada to the Dominican ruler were made through his accounts Twitter.
“We thank Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of the Government of Canada, for his prompt response to our request for help, which facilitated the rescue of miners trapped in the Cerro de Maimón mine. Thank you very much on behalf of the Dominican people.” The president stated through his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, in response to President Abinader’s words of thanks, Trudeau did the same from his account, saying, “Thanks Luis, our members did an inspiring job and I’m glad the miners are safe.”

The Dominican president remained attentive to the situation in which the miners Gregory Alexander Méndez Torres and Carlos Yépez Ospina found themselves, from the moment it became known that they had been trapped under the mine. He even ordered that equipment used in the works of the Metro in Los Alcarrizos be transferred to the place to help in the rescue. In addition, he requested the collaboration of the Government of Canada for the shipment of material and equipment that helped in the rescue.
During the rescue of the miners, the head of state recognized the work of all the rescue personnel who worked throughout the operationwho set an example of resilience by risking their lives to get these two workers out, who also set an example of strength.
Everything brought from Canada, arrived in the country in a Boeing C-17 Globemaster plane through the Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of the Americas, with more than 52,000 pounds of equipment, distributed in a Cubex Model 6200 drill, which weighed more of 25,000 pounds with its mast, and a Booster R-110 Cover. Also, 8,500-pound equipment reinforcements were included, along with tool boxes, rod racks, transformers, and miscellaneous material.
The equipment used in the rescue operation was provided in a solidarity gesture of a humanitarian nature by the company Machines Roger International, a mining company established in Val-d’Or, Canada.
