Inapa begins expansion of Consuelo aqueduct networks

Inapa inicia ampliación redes del acueducto de Consuelo

Santo Domingo.-The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaudgave this Wednesday the first term for the expansion of the distribution networks of the Consuelo aqueduct, province of San Pedro de Macorís, for an approximate amount of RD$125 million.

The official assured that with the work the water service problems that, for decades, affected various sectors of the demarcation, especially Quilombo, Enriquillo, La Carretera and Batey Experimental, will be overcome.

Inapa’s executive director assured that Consuelo will have a drinking water system that will cover the entire current population of 36,208 inhabitants, with a projection of 65,587 by the year 2041; that is to say, that this Government not only thinks about the present, but about future generations.

He explained that the system will have two metallic surface regulating tanks with a capacity of one million gallons of drinking water, as well as their respective conduction and distribution networks.

“It is important to note that we are going to lay more than 25 kilometers of pipes, with a diameter of 2 to 8 inches, and more than 1,500 residential connections,” he said.

“This is a sign that in this government people are a priority, as well as health and human development,” he specified.

During the activity, Arnaud was accompanied by the president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), Nelson Arroyo, as well as other provincial authorities and civil society organizations.
