The readjustment of federal security forces depends on cuts in other areas of the 2022 Budget, said today (20) the president of the Mixed Budget Commission (CMO), Senator Rose de Freitas (MDB-ES). During the afternoon, she and the Budget rapporteur, Deputy Hugo Leal (PSD-RJ), met with the Economy Minister, Paulo Guedes, to try to close an agreement to vote on the final report in the commission.
According to the senator, the cuts can even come from the electoral fund and from parliamentary amendments. “Everything is on the table”, declared Rose de Freitas, asked about the matter. This Tuesday (21), the CMO will hold a new meeting tomorrow (21) at 10 am to try to vote on Hugo Leal’s opinion.
For the president of the CMO, it is necessary to resolve pending issues in budgets for health and education before discussing the adjustment for servers. According to the senator, the CMO is working so that neither of the two areas face a shortage of resources in the next year. “When you talk about readjusting, it’s not a category. Are several. This matter has not yet been dealt with”, he declared.
Today’s meeting, informed the senator, aimed to discuss the reallocation of funds for education. The number of pending votes for the Budget vote, said Rose de Freitas, dropped from 11 to 4. One of the items, said Rose de Freitas, is the readjustment of the federal security forces. “The Ministry of Economy did not indicate where to get resources to readjust the salaries of police officers”, declared the president of the CMO.
In the opinion presented this Monday, Deputy Hugo Leal set the minimum wage for 2022 at R$ 1,210. Budget rapporteur did not accept the request from the Ministry of Economy to make room for R$ 2.8 billion to fund the adjustment to certain categories of servers.
In the letter sent to Congress, the Ministry of Economy did not inform which categories would be met. However, on the 14th, President Jair Bolsonaro had promised wage increases for federal police, federal highway police and correctional officers.
