Petro Government guarantees the first two lines of the Bogotá Metro

On August 10, after the meeting with the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, and the Colombian Association of Capital Cities (Asocapitales), the mayor of the capital, claudia lopezgave a part of tranquility about the future of the Bogota Subway,

(Metro asks the Bogota Council for a debt quota).

The mayor pointed out that both the first and second lines of the Metro have the endorsement of the Ministry of Transportation and the National Planning Department (DNP).

(More than 53% of Colombians use mass transportation).

“The Minister of Transportation and the director of the National Planning Department have stated that they support the Metro project, both Line 1 and Line 2 of Bogotá, which will continue and in no case will it stop. That is what Bogotá needs and that is what Colombia needsLopez said.

According to the schedule of the Metro concessionaire, in 2026 the works on the viaduct will end and the first train will arrive for the tests. And at the end of 2027 the construction phase will be completed and the metro-rail systems will be installed.

So that, the first line is expected, which will have a length of 24 kilometers and will have 16 stations, go into operation in 2028.
