The coordinator of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Itzel de Hewitt, said this Thursday that the Ministry of Health (Minsa) is managing the purchase of vaccines against monkeypox.

He explained that vaccines will only be acquired for the management of outbreaks. “That means that the entire population is not going to be vaccinated, because it is not necessary, only those people who are in close contact with the case,” she indicated.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination days, Hewitt commented that with so many detractors that vaccination has had, the response has not been bad. “The target population, which is those over 5 years of age, we have reached 80% coverage with the first dose and 79% with the second,” she said.

He stated that the health authorities have decided to reactivate these days, since they have realized that Covid-19 has attacked people who do not have the complete vaccination schedule with the three doses.
