“Each act of investigation, requirements and (fiscal) provisions are based on evidence. We are all equal before the law, all prosecutors respect the Constitution, ”said the Nation’s prosecutor through a video broadcast on social networks.
During her message, the head of the Public Ministry was flanked by prosecutors such as the Money Laundering coordinator, Rafael Vela, and the Organized Crime coordinator, Jorge Chávez Cotrina. There was also Marita Barreto, coordinator of the special team of prosecutors against the corruption of power, which was created precisely by Benavides. Likewise, Elmer Ríos, in charge of the Specialized Area in Illicit Enrichment and Marco Huamán, in charge of the Specialized Area in Constitutional Complaints.
In that sense, he assured that he is aware that the tax investigations of high-ranking officials in power could generate “attacks on our institution, on me and my family.”
“I have learned that attacks are being orchestrated against me and my family that only seek to dent or hinder tax investigations. We have also witnessed the attack on one of the prosecutors who is carrying out this investigation,” he stated.
“Fiscal decisions are not political, they strictly adhere to the law of the Constitution. We are all equal before the law. We are not for or against anyone, we are only moved by the search for truth and compliance with the law, “he said.
