The first liquidator judge, Agueda Rentería, accepted the legal term of 30 days to decide whether to call the former mayor of the capital, Bosco Ricardo Vallarino, and the former inspectors of the Comptroller General of the Republic, Noris Castañedas and Luis Stanziola, accused of the alleged commission of the crime of embezzlement.

In her plea, the discharge anti-corruption prosecutor, Ada Almanza, said that Vallarino failed to comply with her duty to oversee the development of two consulting contracts: one for $250,000 for the collection of hospital waste and another for $98,000 for surveillance.

The judge declared the charges for fraud against Juan Carlos Galesio and Alexis Pinzón –of the consulting companies- prescribed, since the maximum sentence for this crime is 6 years and to date at least 10 years have elapsed since the events under investigation. In addition, Rentería denied Vallarino a prescription appeal, since the crime of aggravated embezzlement has a maximum sentence of 15 years and that term has not been met.
